Race Engineer – AE Victory Racing (WRL Series)
Location: Remote + On-site (Trackside travel required during race weekends)
Reports To: Team Manager or Crew Chief
Employment Type: Contract
Compensation: $400-$600/day (depending on experience) plus travel, meals at the track, and reimbursables on travel days.
Position Summary
AE Victory Racing is seeking a Race Engineer to play a pivotal role in vehicle performance, race strategy, and driver collaboration in the World Racing League (WRL) series. This is a hands-on, high-impact role supporting a multi-driver endurance racing program. The ideal candidate brings sharp technical insight, strong communication skills, and a collaborative, solution-oriented mindset to every race weekend.
Key Responsibilities
Develop pre-race strategies including vehicle setup, run plans, and performance targets.
Work closely with the Car Chief to oversee car preparation and make setup adjustments during events.
Communicate race objectives and strategy to team leadership, including Team Owner and Performance Engineer.
Optimize vehicle setup based on driver feedback, vehicle data, and track conditions.
Interpret limited telemetry and data analysis in collaboration with the Performance Engineer to inform decisions.
Lead or support driver debriefs to enhance performance and consistency.
Create and execute pit stop strategies—including fuel calculations, stint timing, and tire management—adjusting in real time based on race dynamics.
Document setup changes, driver preferences, and performance analysis to guide continuous improvement.
Assist with logistics and operational coordination during race weekends.
Qualifications
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Motorsports Engineering, or equivalent motorsports experience.
Proven experience in endurance racing; WRL or similar series preferred.
Proficiency with data acquisition tools (e.g., Bosch, Wintax, Vbox).
Deep understanding of vehicle dynamics, tire management, and endurance prep.
Comfortable working with both amateur and semi-professional drivers.
Exceptional communication skills and the ability to stay composed under pressure.
Availability to travel for approximately 6–10 race weekends per year.
Nice to Haves
Previous experience in professional-level endurance racing.
Mechanical or fabrication background.
Familiarity with Excel-based strategy and fuel calculators.
