CarBahn is looking for an experienced Engine Machinist to join their team at their new Denver-area service center in the Highlands Ranch area of Denver. The successful candidate will have hands-on experience working with high-performance or racing engines, specifically from brands such as BMW, Porsche, Audi, and Mercedes. You will be responsible for engine rebuilding, machining (including honing cylinders and doing valve jobs), custom fabrication, and blueprinting. What We're Looking For:
Education:
High School Diploma or GED (minimum requirement).
Vocational or technical training in Automotive Machining, Precision Machining, or a related field, OR an Associate Degree in Automotive Technology or Machining.
AERA Certification (Automotive Engine Rebuilders Association) for cylinder head or engine machining is a plus.
Technical Skills:
5+ years of hands-on experience working with high-performance or racing engines (e.g., BMW, Porsche, Audi, Mercedes, or motorsport teams).
Must be able to hone cylinders and do valve jobs
Strong background in engine rebuilding, including disassembly, inspection, and reassembly.
Experience in some or all of the following areas:
In-depth knowledge of engine components such as crankshafts, camshafts, valves, and pistons.
Proficient in the use of machining tools such as lathes, mills, grinders, and CNC machines.
Expertise in cylinder head and block machining (e.g., boring, honing, milling, porting).
Precision measurement skills, including the use of micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators.
Experience with engine blueprinting and balancing for performance engines.
Custom fabrication skills, including designing and building custom engine parts.
Soft Skills:
Strong problem-solving abilities, including diagnosing and resolving engine and machining issues.
Excellent attention to detail, ensuring precise tolerances and high-quality work.
Solid communication skills, enabling collaboration with engineers, tuners, and team members.
Effective teamwork and collaboration in a fast-paced environment, especially on racing teams.
Adaptability in keeping up with evolving automotive technologies and techniques.
Work Environment and Tools:
Familiarity with high-end automotive brands such as BMW, Porsche, Audi, or Mercedes.
Ability to work with precision tools and equipment, including CNC and balancing machines.
Additional Considerations:
Experience with personal or professional performance projects, such as race cars or engine modification side projects, is valued.
Willingness to relocate to the Denver area. Relocation assistance is available.
Compensation and Benefits:
This position offers a competitive salary range of $80k - $100k per year, depending on experience and qualifications. CarBahn provides a comprehensive benefits package, 401k (no matching), vacation and holidays, overtime opportunities, and your birthday off with pay. Additionally, the shop has a 4 x 10 hour work week so you get a three-day weekend every week.
